Chatsworth Caravan Park Site Guidelines

Fire Safety and Emergency Arrangements

When you arrive, please familiarise yourself with the assembly point, which is in the car park to the right of RECEPTION and THE COUNTRY STORE. Please ensure that everyone in your group is aware of this location.

In the case of a fire, raise the alarm immediately and call 999. Leave the affected area and go directly to the designated assembly point. Do not attempt to retrieve personal belongings or re-enter the affected area. Please follow all instructions given by the site team or emergency services.

The details for directing emergency services are at the top of this notice. Alert the site team when it is safe to do so. The duty warden is available at all hours for emergencies on 01246 565319.

Please keep fire points and emergency access routes clear at all times. Vehicles, bicycles, awnings, windbreaks and other equipment must not obstruct these routes.

Do not move, tamper with or misuse fire extinguishers, alarms or other emergency equipment.

Medical emergencies

In a medical emergency, dial 999 and request the appropriate emergency service. Please provide the site address and your pitch number and location.

Please notify the site team as soon as it is safe to do so, so they can assist and direct emergency services to the correct location.

The nearest Accident and Emergency Unit is Chesterfield Royal S44 5BL, Tel: 01246 277271

There is a defibrillator onsite. Please follow the instructions on the equipment.

First Aid

Please report all accidents and incidents to the Reception team, who can provide first aid assistance.

Children

Parents and guardians are responsible for the safety, behaviour and supervision of children in their care at all times. Children should not be left unattended in caravans, motorhomes, cars or site facilities.

Please take particular care in toilet blocks and shared facilities, roadways and around moving vehicles, near electrical hook-ups, service points and waste-disposal areas, by the River Derwent and other areas of open water, and when entering or exploring Chatsworth Park.

Site roads, empty pitches, service areas and toilet blocks must not be used as play areas.

Please do not allow children to interfere with barriers, electrical equipment, fire points, water points or other site infrastructure.

River, water and parkland safety

The River Derwent and parts of the surrounding estate contain natural hazards, including open water, steep or slippery banks, uneven ground, livestock and wildlife. Please supervise children and vulnerable people near the river and throughout the surrounding park.

Please also:

  • Observe all warning signs, notices and access restrictions.
  • Keep away from unstable, steep or slippery riverbanks.
  • Do not enter, paddle, swim or play in the river from areas where access is restricted or unsafe.
  • Keep dogs under close control near water and livestock.
  • Remain on permitted paths and routes.
  • Take additional care during darkness, poor weather, flooding or periods of high water.

Access to the wider estate is subject to Chatsworth’s visitor rules and any temporary closures or restrictions that are in place.

Electrical safety

Every pitch has an electrical hook-up rated at 16 amps.

Guests must use suitable, serviceable equipment designed for caravan or motorhome use. Electrical cables must be fully unwound where required, positioned to avoid trip or vehicle hazards, and protected from damage.

Only one continuous electrical hook-up cable may be used between the supply point and your equipment. Joints, splitters, damaged cables, unsafe adaptors and makeshift connections are not permitted. You are responsible for the safety and condition of your cables, plugs, appliances and other equipment connected to the site supply.

Please do not:

  • Alter or interfere with the electrical hook-up equipment.
  • Connect equipment that is visibly damaged or unsafe.
  • Overload the electrical supply.
  • Run cables across roads, access routes or neighbouring pitches.
  • Allow other guests to connect to their pitch supply.
  • Carry out electrical repairs on site.

The site team may disconnect equipment considered unsafe or likely to overload or damage the site supply. Please report any damaged hook-up point, exposed wiring, repeated power failure, overheating or unusual smell immediately and do not use until checked.

Electric vehicle charging

We do not allow charging of electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles from the pitch electrical hook-up or from any socket within a caravan, motorhome, awning or site building. Please do not use extension leads, adaptors or connect a vehicle to the pitch supply.

BBQs and open flames

We only permit gas barbecues in the caravan park. Charcoal barbecues, disposable barbecues, wood-burning stoves, chimineas, firepits and open fires are not permitted.

Please ensure your gas barbecue is:

  • In sound condition and used according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Raised off the ground.
  • Positioned safely away from caravans, motorhomes, awnings, tents, vehicles, hedges, trees, combustible materials, enclosed or partially enclosed spaces.
  • Supervised by a responsible adult when lit or hot.
  • Fully extinguished and cool before being left unattended or moved.
  • Not causing unreasonable smoke, fumes or disturbance to other guests.

We may suspend the use of barbecues during dry weather, drought, high winds or when the site team is aware of an increased fire risk. Please follow any temporary restriction communicated by the site team.

Pitch and access safety

Please position your caravan, motorhome, awning, tent, vehicle or other equipment within the pitch marker and in line with instruction given by the site team.

Please ensure a distance of six metres between the facing walls of adjacent caravans, motorhomes or trailer tents, and a clear space of at least three metres between adjoining vehicles, awnings, windbreaks and other equipment.

Do not move pitch markers or extend equipment beyond your allocated pitch.

Do not obstruct roads, footpaths, emergency routes, fire points, service points or access to neighbouring pitches.

Gas cylinders, barbecues, bicycles, mobility equipment and other items must be stored securely within the allocated pitch and must not create a fire, trip or collision hazard.

We are happy to permit tent boxes fitted to vehicles if the vehicle and tent box remain within the allocated pitch, comply with pitch-spacing requirements and do not obstruct access or create a safety risk.

The site team may ask you to reposition or remove equipment that does not comply with spacing requirements or presents a safety risk.

Vehicles, bicycles and recreational equipment

The maximum speed throughout the site for all motorised and non-motorised vehicles is 5mph. Pedestrians have priority, and drivers must follow the one-way system and remain alert for children, cyclists, pets and mobility equipment users.

Only appropriately licensed and insured drivers may operate motor vehicles onsite.

We permit one vehicle per pitch, which must be parked on the allocated pitch or in a designated parking area.

Motorised scooters, go-karts, hoverboards, off-road motorcycles and similar recreational equipment must not be used on site. This restriction does not apply to mobility equipment when operated safely by the owner and within the site speed limit.

Dogs and other pets

Please keep dogs under control and on a secure lead in the caravan park, unless inside the designated off-lead area.

Please clean up after your pets immediately and dispose of waste appropriately.

Only assistance dogs are allowed inside caravan park buildings.

You are welcome to use the dog wash, which is located behind the motorhome service point.

Pets that behave aggressively, cause persistent disturbance or present a risk to people, animals or wildlife may be required to be removed.

Noise, behaviour and quiet enjoyment

Please keep noise to a considerate level throughout your stay and observe our quiet hours from 10pm to 7am.

Generators are not permitted on site.

We do not allow parties, amplified music or behaviour likely to cause unreasonable disturbance.

Threatening, abusive, discriminatory, dangerous or anti-social behaviour towards guests, our colleagues, or members of the public will not be tolerated.

You are responsible for the conduct of everyone included in your booking, or visiting you onsite. We may require guests or visitors to leave immediately if their conduct:

  • Presents a safety or security risk.
  • Causes significant or repeated disturbance.
  • Damages site or guest property.
  • Involves illegal or seriously anti-social behaviour.

We will not refund a stay that is ended because of a serious breach of our site rules, subject to confirmation through the final legal review.

Security and personal property

Please secure your caravan, motorhome, vehicle, bicycle and personal belongings.

Vehicles should be locked when unattended, and valuable items should not be left visible.

Please do not share access codes or keys with anyone outside your booking group, and let us know if you have lost your key or forgotten your code, or have any security concerns.
