Botanical Embroidery Workshop at Chatsworth
Learn the art of botanical embroidery, using plants and flowers from the Chatsworth Garden as your inspiration.
Artist Lucy Freeman’s contemporary embroidery style is easy to learn, quick and expressive. It’s simpler than the traditional methods and produces expressive and painterly results, perfect for flowers and plants.
You will start from the absolute basics of threading a needle so all abilities are welcome. During the workshop you will sew a sampler hoop of Lucy’s four basic stitches, as well as creating your own botanical design, inspired by the Chatsworth Garden. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the garden, taking photographs and drawing to inspire your finished piece.
Lucy’s embroidery artwork will be on display throughout the workshop for inspiration, as well as a variety of drawings, templates and botanical illustrations.
5th & 6th April, 16th & 17th August | 10am to 4pm | £100 per person, one-day workshop, including garden entry and lunch
