Bakewell Country Festival

A great family day out combining a mix of traditional agricultural elements, family activities, entertainment, food, drink, shopping and more.

Bakewell Country Festival is a packed family day out (ages 15 and under go free) aiming to showcase some of the best of the Peak District. Families can easily fill the day with animal encounters, craft sessions, music and drumming workshops, forest school fun and fairground rides before perusing an array of local street food vendors for refreshments… or bring a picnic and pull up a straw bale!

There’s a packed day-long programme in the Showground’s centre ring with heavy horse competitions and displays, a slow tractor race, pony club musical rides and fast-paced scurry and trials driving competitions. All ages can step back in time at the festival’s medieval encampment, thanks to Knights of Honour reenactors, as well as trying out bushcraft and survival skills with Woodland Ways. A talks stage, live music and culinary theatre – in association with Pure Peak magazine – offer more popular entertainment options, while a visit to Conservation Corner affords visitors opportunities to learn more about important conservation work across the Peak District National Park. Bakewell Premier Dog Show runs on both the Saturday and Sunday (free entry Saturday, festival tickets required Sunday), all rounded off with a market comprising local makers, artists and producers.
