The countryside around The Hide is full of places that welcome dogs and their owners. Explore historic parklands, ride in cable cars, browse designer shops, and settle into cafés with your dog in tow.

Chatsworth Garden and Parkland
Dogs on leads are welcome in the garden, and across the 1000-acre+ parkland and 400-acre medieval Stand Wood. Enjoy woodland trails, riverside paths, and plenty of dog friendly cafés, as you explore the natural beauty of the Chatsworth Parkland.

Monsal Trail
A short drive from the estate is the starting point of the Monsal Trail. A popular choice for dog walkers, this 8.5-mile-long trail will take you through some of the most stunning limestone scenery in the Peak District, as well as gorgeous views of the iconic Headstone Viaduct. Following a former railway line, the Monsal Trail is an adventure with several cafés and picnic spots along the way.

The Heights of Abraham
Dogs ride free on the cable cars that take you to the 60-acre Heights of Abraham. At the summit, you’ll find spectacular views across the Derwent Valley, as well as a circular ramble that takes you across the top of Masson Hill. There are dog friendly dining options at the Terrace Café or outside at the Vista restaurant, and with regular live entertainment, it’s a scenic, relaxing day out.

Peak Village
Tucked away in Rowsley is Peak Village Shopping Centre, where all dogs receive a warm welcome from both staff and visitors. Most shops and restaurants are dog friendly, including Chatsworth Kitchen, a modern restaurant serving seasonal dishes made with ingredients from Chatsworth Estate and local farmers. Remember not to miss Bark and Co., a must-visit for dog toys, treats, and accessories.

Mam Tor Circular
Mam Tor Circular is one of the most admired walks in the Peak District. It’s well known as a fantastic location to watch the sunrise, and on a clear day, the ridge walk offers uninterrupted views across the countryside. A relatively easy climb with rewarding views, it’s a great option for families and dogs.
