Celebrating Jane Austen: Regency Festival

Step into the Regency era at Chatsworth with talks, entertainment, and dressing-up activities inspired by Jane Austen

Across three days, guest speakers share insights into Austen’s life and the wider Regency world, with free talks held in the garden marquee. Portrait artist Charlotte Atkinson will be creating ten‑minute watercolour likenesses, and a Regency dressing‑up area offers costumes and a photo point for visitors.

The weekend brings talks, music and Regency‑inspired pastimes set against the backdrop of ‘Pemberley’, as seen in the 2005 film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Regency dress is optional but welcomed, and those in period dress are invited to join the daily promenade along the Broad Walk.

The festival was named ‘Festival or Event of the Year’ at the Peak District, Derbyshire and Derby Tourism Awards 2026. Entry included in all house and garden tickets.
